Witness statement in trial for assault: Charles Bradfield: "In the forenoon of Saturday, 4th of October, I went into the Bull public-house to have my breakfast -I was reading the newspaper and had a beef-steak, which I gave to Sherman, the servant, to be dressed -the prisoner came in, and asked me for the newspaper -I said he should have it in a minute or two -he said if it had not been for me, he should have been in service at that time...
