There are lots of sources of vacancies. The OU Careers Advisory Service in partnership with Graduate Prospects offers an online vacancy service, where you can search for a variety of jobs and be alerted by email of new vacancies that match your criteria.

Website advertisements

Look at

Professional bodies and trade associations often carry vacancies on their websites or produce vacancy bulletins.

For jobs in local authorities, the Local Government Jobs website is a useful starting point.

Contacts can be identified on the Newspaper Society website.

The OU Careers Advisory Service has developed an Employer Showcase where employers can promote themselves to OU graduates and links are provided to their graduate recruitment websites.

Many universities, such as the Open University, have their own vacancy website. If you are interested in jobs in an academic environment go to jobs.ac.uk.

All job centre vacancies can be viewed online. Job centres can be helpful if you are seeking paid work experience, for example as an education support assistant or care or support worker. They also have disability support advisers.

There are a number of regional and national sources that give vacancy listings and other assistance in job hunting for graduates within different areas of the UK.

Milkround has listings for hundreds of internships and thousands of graduate job opportunities, searchable by location, industry and job role or type.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation represents recruitment agencies and provides lists of its members on its website, searchable by sector and geographical location.

International students living in the UK and others seeking job opportunities abroad can search the International Graduate Jobs database on Prospects website. It includes links to country profiles, example CVs and more general information about working abroad.
