Open University Students Association – Relationship Agreement

The OU-OU Students Association Relationship Agreement sets out how the OU and OU Students Association will work together:

  1. Under our Student Charter principle, to secure the University’s mission (being open to people, places, methods and ideas) and to promote the University’s values (being inclusive, innovative and responsive).

  2. To support Open University Students Association’s objectives for the advancement of OU students’ education, set out in the Open University Students Association Constitution

  3. To ensure that Open University Students Association operates in a fair and democratic manner, and is accountable for its finances.

The OU-OU Students Association Relationship Agreement complies with the statutory requirements for the Code of Practice under section 22(3) of the Education Act 1994.

The requirement, under Section 22 of the 1994 Education Act, for a code of practice which sets out the steps which the Open University Council is taking to secure that the Open University Students Association operates in a fair and democratic manner and is accountable for its finances, is met by the OU-OUSA Relationship agreement.

Open University Students Association (OUSA), procedure for complaints about

The procedure for any student who wishes to raise a complaint or concern about any aspect of OUSA’s operation or services is available from the ‘Download Resources’ area of the OUSA website http://www.open.ac.uk/ousa/

The procedure, required under Section 22 (m) of the Education Act 1994, for an independent person appointed by the Open University Council to investigate and report on complaints against OUSA, is set out in Section 5 of the Student Complaints and Appeals procedure.

 

Open University Students Association - Education (no 2) Act 1986 - freedom of speech

Appendix 2 of the OU-OU Students Association Relationship Agreement sets out the Code of Practice required under Section 43 of the Education (no 2) Act 1986 relating to freedom of speech in so far as it is relevant to the activities and conduct of Open University Students Association.
