Additional Comments:

Dame Freya Madeline Stark (31 January 1893 - 9 May 1993) was a British traveller and explorer. Stark's childhood was spent in Italy, mainly in Dronero (Piemonte) and later in Asolo (Veneto). It is not known if Stark read the book in German (which she could read from childhood) or in English translation.
