Open Educational Resources- The Beacon of Inclusion and Intellectual Openness (Munir Moosa Sewani)

In this talk, Dr. Munir will shed light on the potentials of OER in advancing educational accessibility and inclusivity. Furthermore, he will  share his personal odyssey as a passionate advocate for open education, culminating in the creation of the GFTE Academy of Open Educational Resources Publication. In addition, he will offer valuable policy insights and recommendations for educational institutions on harnessing the power of OER.

Profile: Dr. Munir Moosa holds a PhD in Education with a concentration in Human Rights Education. He is the Alumnus of the Open University UK. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Education at SMI University, Pakistan. He is also a founding volunteer director of Global Forum for Teacher Educators, where he promotes free human rights education among teachers of 75 countries. Munir has been the recipient of several awards, including the Charles Wallace Trust Fellowship UK, UNESCO APCEIU Micro-Project Winner, Presidency of Turks and Related Communities (YTB) Research Fellowship, Remote Fellowship International Rescue Committee and University of Lagos. Additionally, he has received the Commonwealth Distance Education Scholarship 2017 and has served as a Visiting Academic Scholar at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of California, Berkeley. Through this work he has developed a series of socio-eco-ethical models, frameworks and theories with global application in human rights education, social work, and inclusivity. In 2022, Munir won the British Council’s Social Impact Award for his educational model titled socioecoethical model of human rights education.
