Farey’s legacy in frieze patterns and discrete geometry

by Ian Short

From 20–24 April 2026 my colleagues and I will be hosting the conference Farey’s legacy in frieze patterns and discrete geometry at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Edinburgh. The workshop will bring together researchers in frieze patterns, continued fractions, and discrete geometry, using Farey’s legacy as a unifying narrative.

Registration will open in due course.

The organising committee is
Anna Felikson (Durham University)
Oleg Karpenkov (University of Liverpool)
Ian Short (The Open University)
Pavel Tumarkin (Durham University)
Emine Yıldırım (University of Leeds)
