Songwriting Workshop and Concert

This year, for the first time, the Music Department is holding a study day on songwriting, which is a focus within the level 2 module A224: Inside music. The event will consist of workshops on songs written by past A224 students for their end of module assessment (EMA), a roundtable of Associate Lecturer composers discussing elements of song writing, a lecture by one of the central academics on a topic related to songwriting, and will finish with a short concert of songs including some by A224 students.

We want to celebrate the hard work and successes of our students and to offer a way for current students to see what has been done by others and what can be achieved. For students unable to attend in person, the event will be filmed in full and made available directly to students via a web link about a week after the event, to stream and view in their own time.

The study day will take place in the Berrill lecture theatre on the Milton Keynes campus on 11 March from 11am-4.30pm. All students are welcome to attend, including level 1 students who may be interested in studying music at level 2. The event will be free, but no lunch will be provided, so attendees should plan to use the campus catering facilities (or bring their own).

If you would like to attend, please send an email to Shirley Parsons (S.A.Parsons@open.ac.uk) to book your place, and to give us an indication of numbers.
