What is career success to you this summer?

Posted on Career planning, Interviews and assessments

If you’ve just got your module results or coming up to your last TMAs, EMA or exam and planning your next module, it’s likely you’re thinking back to the goals and aspirations that sparked your OU journey. What motivated you to take on OU study? Has it changed or become even stronger? Our Summer Careers Surgery is here to help you ensure your OU study helps get you where you want to be in life.

“Success means something different to everyone. If your definition of success is firmly based on your own values, beliefs and passions, you are more likely to make a successful career move.”
Chandni Bhana, OU Careers Consultant

Talk to others and understand yourself

Our Summer Careers Surgery 3 July – 2 August can help you pinpoint what success means to you and how you can take steps to achieve it. You’ll be able to talk to other OU students about their ideas and what they’re doing, as well as our professional careers team, who can give you practical advice on figuring out what you want from your career and how you can use your OU study to help you get it.

Work out what really matters to you

Many OU students are studying to change, progress or start their career, and we want you to succeed in your life goals as well as in your studies. The recorded webinar Identifying Your Core Values could help you ensure your dreams and ambitions are firmly rooted in the things you believe in. Check out our career self-assessment too, to make sure your career goals are still on track for success and fulfilment.

Whatever success means to you, whatever your past experience and current subject of OU study, the OU’s Careers and Employability Services are here to help you get to where you want to be. Drop into the Summer Careers Surgery and become #OUCareerConfident this summer.
