This programme shows how different students are taking the courses in the Diploma Programme in Health and Social Welfare. They are: a group of young people in Northern Ireland, all studying a cours...e about mental handicap/learning difficulties and all of whom work in this area; a social worker in Birmingham who has takena variety of OU courses before and is currently taking 'Working with Children and Young People'; thirdly, a small group of women in Birmingham, also taking this course, who have either voluntary or lay interest in children. They are all shown studying alone or in tutorials and talk about the various challenges and rewards they find through studying.
