Description
This video presents a collection of thin sections for study. It relates closely to the course text and to material in other S339 videos. The thin sections discussed in part 1 are fault rocks - cata...clasites and mylonites collected from classic outcrops in the Moine thrust belt in Northern Scotland. Part 2 is concerned with metamporphic mineral identification in thin sections of rocks found in the Dalradian outcrops in NE Scotland. The minerals demonstrated in various forms are andalusite, silliamanite, fibrolite, muscovite, kyanite, cordierite, chloritoid, chlorite, staurolite, glaucophane and epidote.
