Sorting out the pictures

HPIM0029.jpgI took the ipaq out and took a lot of photos. Not necessarily good photos, but photos with a GPS fix. It may be good at latitude and longitude, but it’s lousy at altitude. For some reason, it thinks that this picture was taken at an altitude of 71 metres. It may be a small and blurry picture, but you can see sea level, and it’s definitely not 71 metres down.

I don’t recall having an altitude problem, but I didn’t check for that. The photos with GPS fix were great in the lake district, but when I tried to do the same in Greece, the IPAQ could only locate two satellites, three at most, but not for long enough to give an accurate GPS fix. Dave checked with his GPS device (not a PDA, a dedicated Garmin ETrex Vista) and found 5 satellites. Even without downloading “quick GPS”, surely the device should have been able to locate the satellites eventually.

So – no pics with the IPAQ from Greece. To be honest, the quality is less than that of my normal digital camera, and less than that of my Nokia N80, so there didn’t seem much point.
