Title: – The computing education revolution in England: four years on
Abstract: This talk will look at the change in the English national curriculum that replaced the “unambitious, demotivating and dull” ICT with a computer science heavy computing. How has the change impacted access to digital education across England since 2014, what are the successes and where are digital divides starting to emerge? Using data from the DfE’s national pupil database we will cover student access and results at KS4 and KS5.
Bio: Peter Kemp – Senior Lecturer in Computing Education at the University of Roehampton. Taught computing in secondary schools through the Teach First scheme and currently runs a PGCE in computing. Research includes teaching 3D digital art and the learning pathways of young digital makers. Main author of The Roehampton Annual Computing Education Report.
