Profile summary

Professional biography

Margit took her BA and MA in the History of Art at the Courtauld Institute and her DPhil at the University of Sussex. She has taught at Sussex, at St Andrews University, at Bristol University and at the University of East Anglia before she joined the Open University.

Research interests

Margit's research interests are mainly focused on the early modern period in the Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia and the British Isles. They include painting, print, architecture, sculpture and range across the histories of religion, politics, gender, court culture, public rituals, urban spaces and musical culture.

Teaching interests

Margit's teaching interests include any work of art produced anywhere in the world during the early modern period. She is also keen to develop her understanding of the histories of colonialism and collecting, especially in relation to Inuit communities in Greenland and North America.
