Profile summary

Professional biography

Prior to my retirement in 2015, my main research interests were in medical statistics and infectious disease epidemiology: especially vaccine safety and effectiveness studies, estimation of infectious disease parameters from assay data, and outbreak detection systems.

Since retiring, I have published a book on the self-controlled case series method (with Heather Whitaker and Yonas Gebremichael Weldeselassie) and am about to finish another on the epidemiology of vaccination programmes (with Susan Hahné and Kaat Bollaerts).

I’m currently involved in several collaborations on Covid-19 epidemiology, in the UK, Sweden, France, and Canada.
