We work closely with organisations across the whole of Scotland to take our learning opportunities to as many people as possible. These include employers, unions, charities and voluntary sector groups, universities, colleges, schools and sports bodies. We also work across teams in the OU to ensure that the student voice is heard through all areas of our activity.
We engage with Scotland's employers to provide exceptional learning and development solutions, such as keeping Scotland’s health, social care, education and business professionals at the head of their fields.
The Open University in Scotland has active partnerships with 15 Scottish colleges, with credit transfer options for students onto degree level studies.
Committed to widening access, our learning partnerships with third sector organisations offer ‘new learning in familiar spaces’. We can also support organisational development within charities and voluntary groups.
Our popular Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS) gives S6 pupils the chance to study an OU module. We also support teachers’ professional learning and development at home and abroad.
We aim to widen participation through the enhancement of teaching, learning and the student experience, and increase retention and attainment of students from Scotland’s most deprived communities.
