We invite submissions for the 40th Annual Conference of the Computers and Learning Research Group (CALRG), to be held on 17-18 June 2019 in the Open University’s Jennie Lee Building, Milton Keynes, UK.
CALRG is one of the UK‘s leading research groups in the use of technologies in education. CALRG’s annual conference provides a forum for members, as well as other researchers and practitioners in the field, to present their work. We particularly encourage research students to contribute.
The conference will consist of two days of presentations and interactive sessions across a broad range of relevant topics, including:
- Accessible online learning
- Artificial Intelligence in Education
- Chatbots in education
- Citizen science and public engagement
- Computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL)
- Effective designing for learning and learner experiences
- Games-based learning
- Immersive technologies (e.g., VR and AR) in educational contexts
- Learning analytics
- Methods for computers and learning research
- Mobile learning
- Openness in education
- Professional learning
- Widening access and participation in education with technology
Submission Types
Contributions are invited in the following forms:
- Full presentations
- Lightning presentations
- Posters
Full presentations are for work that is mature or in the final stages of analysis, and will be allotted 25 minutes, including 10 minutes for questions and discussion. To be considered for a full presentation slot, please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words.
Lightning presentations are for works in progress, projects in their initial stages, and early doctoral research. Presenters will be allotted 5 minutes, including 1 minute for one question, and will be able to use one slide. To be considered for a lightning presentation slot, please submit an abstract of no more than 150 words. Accepted lightning presentations may also be shown as a poster at the conference.
Posters enable work in progress to be presented visually. To be considered for a poster slot, please submit an abstract of no more than 150 words. You must also be available to discuss your poster at the conference on Tuesday 18 June. An additional abstract is not required for anyone submitting a lightning presentation abstract.
Submissions from projects across the Open University and beyond are very welcome. All academic research projects based in IET/LTIA are strongly encouraged to contribute a submission to the CALRG conference, in order that the conference provides a comprehensive overview of our current work.
Submitting an abstract
The deadline for abstract submission is midnight Monday, May 13th 2019. Abstracts for all submission types should be submitted online in Word format (.doc, .docx) to Easy Chair (http://bit.ly/CALRG2019). No submissions will be accepted by email.
Accepted abstracts for all types of submission will be included in the online conference programme.
