2020 – Present: Project Management team for DETECT, Project Coordinator for Space SRA and CEI, Research Associate for BEERS and Shetland Space Hub.

2017-2019 – Project Coordinator for ProSPA

2016-2017 – Project Assistant for ProSPA

PROJECTS

BEERS – (Benefits of European Space Agency’s Exploration Roadmap in Socioeconomics) The project investigates and evaluates the socioeconomic benefits of ESA exploration space missions with respect to economic competitiveness and growth, new means to address global challenges/sustainable development goals and inspiration.

Shetland Space Hub –  This project will assess the socio-economic benefits of the spaceport facility on the island of Unst by leveraging the benefits methodology developed within the on-going European Space Agency BEERS project.

DETECT: DETECT, is one of the 10 new cutting-edge projects that the UK Space Agency announced on World Humanitarian Day to help tackle global development problems.Mosquito-borne diseases have a major impact on developing countries. In 2018, there were an estimated 228 million cases and 405,000 deaths from malaria alone. DETECT will integrate satellite, air-borne and ground-based sensing to detect where mosquitoes are most likely to breed.Through satellite communications, the system will then dispatch ‘sprayer drones’ to these high-risk areas to release biocontrol agents – killing mosquito larvae without affecting other species.

Partners on the DETECT project are: Cobra Collective CIC, North Rupununi District Development Board, Blue Bear Systems Research Limited, Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health, BrainStreet Group, University of Guyana, Iwokrama International Centre, University of Aberystwyth, 2iC Limited, and University of Stirling.

LUVMI Rover/LUVMI-X: LUVMI-X is a lightweight lunar rover bound for the polar regions of the Moon, to search for water and other volatiles, scoping out the lunar environment in support of the establishment of a lunar economy and of future human missions to the Moon and beyond.LUVMI-X is the next phase of the LUVMI concept, which developed mobile instrumentation to analyse traces of volatiles in regions of the Moon in perpetual darkness. A mobile system comprising state of the art instruments and a robotic platform was designed, and a prototype was built and tested successfully.

ExoMars: The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter mission is a joint endeavour by the European Space Agency (ESA) and its Russian equivalent, RosCosmos. It will demonstrate key technologies for future flight and in-situ exploration missions and will make important scientific discoveries, fundamental to the exploration of Mars. It will also act as a data communications relay for other future Mars missions.

PROSPECT / ProSPA:  An instrument that will analyse samples as part of ESA's PROSPECT drilling and analysis tool for lunar exploration. ProSPA is a miniature chemical laboratory for extracting and analysing water and ices on board the Roscosmos-ESA collaborative mission Luna-27, which aims to land at the south pole of the Moon in 2022. The OU is being supported by Airbus Defence and Space (UK), RAL Space (UK), Dynamic Imaging Analytics (UK), Fluid Gravity Engineering (UK), Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (Germany), Technical University of Munich (Germany), Media Lario Technologies (Italy). [PROSPECT is led by Leonardo S.p.A. under a progarmme of and funded by ESA]
