Professional biography

I completed my Masters in Chemistry (MChem) in 2019 at the University of Sheffield. My project focused on the synthesis of novel ruthenium organometallic complexes which were able to undergo the DNA light switch effect.

I then joined the School of Life, Health and Chemical Sciences in 2019. I am an AHRC funded PhD student and work in collaboration with the V&A museum.

Research interests

The effect of detergent use on the wet cleaning of museum textiles:

My research project focuses on how textile conservators wet clean museum textiles. The most common way this is done is by using detergents. I plan on investigating whether detergents are remaining as residues on textiles after wet cleaning and assessing if they cause any long-term damage. 

I am grateful to my funders the AHRC for making this project possible and also to my supervisors: Dr Simon Collinson in the School of Life, Health and Chemical Sciences; Dr Alex Forsey in the School of Engineering and Innovation and Frances Hartog who is a Senior Textile Conservator at the V&A.
