Dr Anastasia Bakogianni I received my PhD from the University of London. My first academic job was as a research fellow at the Institute of Classical Studies. I came to the Open University to take up a two-year post as a post-doctoral research associate, working for the Reception of Classical Texts project with Professor Lorna Hardwick. Follow this link for more information on the project. My role involves organising graduate workshops and conducting research on the theme of classics and popular culture. Two workshops one on reception theory and another on classics and museums have already taken place and I am working on organising further events. An article based on my initial research for this project entitled ‘Voices of resistance: Michael Cacoyannis’ Trojan Women (1971)’ will be published by the Institute of Classical Studies in the next issue of their annual bulletin (winter 2009). My specialty is Greek tragedy and its reception, particularly in the medium of cinema, as well as in art and poetry. I am also interested in the reception of classical culture in modern Greece.
