Ford Madox Ford at the Bungalow,
Winchelsea, c. 1903. Welcome to the website of the Ford Madox Ford Society. This international society was founded in 1997 to promote knowledge of and interest in the life and work of Ford Madox Ford (1873-1939). The society organizes an active programme of events. Besides regular meetings in Britain, we have held conferences in Italy, Germany, and the U.S.A. One of our most recent events was in Genova, in September 2007, where we were delighted to be joined by A. S. Byatt and Colm Tóibín, each of whom delivered a Ford Madox Ford Lecture. Follow the link to see the write-up of this event in The Times newspaper. Since 2002 we have published an annual series, International Ford Madox Ford Studies, distributed free to members. Please use this site to find out more about the current volume, and back issues too, all of which can still be purchased. We also produce a regular newsletter, made up of current news and reports of events, but also reviews and other pieces written by Society members. Please follow the link to see the most recent example. If you are an admirer, an enthusiast, a reader, a scholar, or a student of anything Fordian, then this society would like to hear from you, and welcomes your participation in its activities. Details of how to join, and of how to contact the Executive Committee, the website editor, or the newsletter editor, can all be found here. Before signing off I must acknowledge the debt of gratitude owed by the Society and all its members to our outgoing Chair, Professor Max Saunders. Max established the Society, working in the early days to discover and then to bring together fellow enthusiasts at memorable events and conferences. His continuing commitment to all things Fordian is an inspiration to those of us who study Ford, publish work about him, or simply indulge in the pleasure of reading one of the prose masters of the last century.
