DH_OU (The Open University's Digital Humanities Research Collaboration) and the Department of Philosophy are happy to invite you to the next event in the Digital Humanities Seminar series.

Presenters: Jayant Ahalawat and Alessio Antonini 

Moderator: Derek Matravers

PhD researchers Jayant Ahalawat and Alessio Antonini will present their ongoing doctoral research and debate with participants the following issues:

  • The role of the contemporary economic environment in dictating the interaction between individuals and technology
    • Whether this economic framework is also influencing the way "science" ought to be done (for example, studies on Artificial Intelligence)
  • How technology is shaping interactions between individuals
  • Whether the exercise of power through algorithms is different from the way power has been exercised historically
