Publication of Alex Tickell's Han Suyin: Literature, Politics and Translation

Alex Tickell’s special issue of the Journal of Postcolonial Writing (Vol 57 Issue 2) on ‘Han Suyin: Literature, Politics and Translation’ co-edited with Feng Cui and Luke Kang Kwong Kapathy of NTU Singapore was published in March 2021.

Tickell co-wrote the introduction ‘Han Suyin: The little voice of decolonizing Asia’ and also authored one article: ‘Han Suyin’s Cold War fictions: Life-writing, intimacy and decolonization’. 

Anne Wetherilt, a PhD student affiliated to the PGLRG, also contributed an article from her current research: ‘Emergency politics and the middlebrow novel: A comparative analysis of Han Suyin’s … and the Rain my Drink and Mary McMinnies’s The Flying Fox.

The special issue included a specially commissioned article by the novelist Aamer Hussein.
