3.2 ePortfolios and referencing

“An e-portfolio is the product, created by the learner, a collection of digital artefacts articulating experiences, achievements and learning.” (http://www.jisc.ac.uk/media/documents/publications/effectivepracticeeportfolios.pdf)

References may form part of an ePortfolio both as a record of resources read by the learner, and also in the form of references within written work, such as summative assessments. Potential benefits of integrating reference management tools with ePortfolio systems students include:

  • Ability to build an annotated list of past reading
  • Easy reuse references and resources as required
  • Ability to share and discuss references (as pointers to relevant resources) with others
