Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care

Who is it for?

To complete this qualification you will currently be working as a lead adult care worker, support worker or key worker in a range of Adult Care settings in England.

You will have key responsibilities for delivery of care and support and/or a level of supervisory responsibility for others in a role such as:

  • Lead Adult Care Worker
  • Lead Personal Assistant
  • Key Worker
  • Domiciliary Care Worker
  • Senior Care Worker
  • Support Worker

You will learn, develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in Adult Care within a role which has some autonomy, delegated responsibility and where there may be a need for supervision of others.

What topics does the qualification cover?

The content of the mandatory units covers person centred approaches, communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, handling information, duty of care, responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, and, health, safety and wellbeing.

A range of optional units to choose from covers a variety of tasks and skills to meet the requirements of a range of Adult Care services.

Programme structure

You will provide evidence of your work practice, including completing assignments, case studies, written accounts and providing work products. Evidence is uploaded to an e-portfolio which is available 24/7 on computers, tablets and mobile devices.

An Open University assessor will observe work-based practice on at least one occasion, assess evidence uploaded to the e-portfolio and provide developmental feedback.

You will have access through VQLearner Home to online resources specific to your qualification and links to suggested further study with the Open University.

Support will be provided throughout the qualification by the VQAC Learner Support Team.
