Your choice of modules and qualifications
The Open University offers around 500 individual courses that count towards more than 120 qualifications in a number of subject areas - all on a part-time basis. It’s a unique style of university study, allowing you to build up to a degree over a period that suits you by taking and passing a series of modules.
You can either work towards a named Honours Degree eg. BA or BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care or BA (Hons) Business Studies or you can pick and mix your own combination of courses for an Open Degree.
What are Open University Open Degrees?
Wouldn't it be great if you could pick your favourite subjects and combine them to create a degree totally tailored to your interests? The Open University’s Open Degree lets you do just that by mixing and matching courses from different subject areas to come up with the combination that's just right for you. Did you know you may also be able to transfer credit from your HNC, HND or SVQ to put towards your degree?
Whether you get a BA or BSc depends on the balance of modules you take and if your interests change, the flexibility of this degree means you can choose different areas of study as you go along. It's no wonder 40% of our students choose to graduate with an Open Degree each year.
We also offer named degrees in the following areas:
