Teaching roles

There are three different teaching roles and the module specific descriptions will explain which role is required. The generic person specification applies for each role although some elements may differ slightly.

Associate lecturer is the term we use for the majority of staff who are employed to teach our students. They make a vital contribution to the quality of teaching and learning and support students by making contact at key points in their study, marking and providing feedback on assignments, helping students understand the module material and helping them prepare for an examination or end of module assessment.

Practice tutors have a broader role in relation to professional programmes such as Nursing and Social Work. These practice tutors have a particular responsibility for practice issues, for facilitating practice learning meetings in a student's practice learning opportunity and for monitoring the overall progress of their student group, particularly progress on practice learning opportunities.
