Description
This programme aims to introduce the student to the concept of musical style, and some of the ways in which it is applied. It explains that, as a concept, musical style lies on a level between that... of musical language and that of the musical work. If a group of works have sufficient in common, they make up a style. It goes on to show that styles exist on different levels - they may be associated with historical periods, geographical areas, with groups of composers or with individuals. Examples are given from three historical periods - Baroque, Classical and Romantic.
