Description
Edith Bulwer-Lytton, Countess of Lytton, was a British aristocrat. Her husband was Robert Bulwer-Lytton. She was made Vicereine of India in 1876 and Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Victoria in 1895 and then to Queen Alexandra following Victoria's death in 1901. Her daughter Constance was a prominent suffragette who was imprisoned four times and was force fed during her hunger strikes. Her health never recovered and Edith Lytton nursed her daughter until she died in 1923.
