Description
Hensleigh Wedgewood was a British etymologist and philologist. He also trained as a barrister and served as a police magistrate. He was a founding member of the Philological Society in 1842. In 1857 he published a 'Dictionary of Etymology'. He had an interest in spiritualism and became a member of the British National Association of Spiritualists and a vice-president of the Society for Psychical Research. Hensleigh was a grandson of the English potter Josiah Wedgewood.
