Title: | Letter from Edric Gifford, 3rd Baron Gifford |
---|---|
Description: | Edric Gifford, 3rd Baron Gifford requests a copy of Henry Stanley's book 'Two British Campaigns in Africa'. The book, which was actually titled 'Coomassie and Magdala: The Story of Two British Campaigns in Africa' was published in 1874. Gifford took part in the 3rd Anglo-Ashanti War in the same year, so it seems likely this is why he was interested in a book about earlier African campaigns including one in the Ashanti region. |
