Research interests

Jessica’s research interests are the psychoanalytic aspects of the public sphere and its governance, particularly policy development based on the idea of civic renewal and the centrality of communities. More broadly she is interested in therapeutic culture and the place of emotions in public life, as well as the theoretical relationships between sociology and psychoanalysis. The other strand of her research is sociology of visual culture and photography. She has written widely on charity images of disability from within a psychosocial framework.
