The Open University's School of Arts and Humanities is delighted to be hosting this event as part of Being Human: A Festival of the Humanities.

Was theatre important to your life before Covid-19? Or were you into a different type of live performance, such as music, dance, or spoken word?

Has lockdown made you think about what you get out of attending a live performance, compared to watching a digital recording at home, and what is lost when you can’t?

This online café is for anyone who’s been missing live performance, whether you’re a performer yourself or an audience member.

We want to talk about why performance matters, and what is special and unique about it. We will be hearing from theatre makers who have been trying to find ways to recreate the sense of liveness and gathering in a socially distanced way. We’d love you to share your experiences and opinions too.

Registration is via the Being Human website.
