Author James Robertson inspires students at careers event

Careers and employability was the focus of a ‘Making the most of your studies' event attended by over 60 Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences students in Glasgow.

James Robertson, OU Honorary Graduate, Author and Co-founder of Itchy Coo publishing imprint, gave an inspirational address on ‘Why we need the arts and social sciences', before answering questions from students.

The event in May included workshops on building employability, exploring opportunities within museums and galleries, and employability in the counselling professions. The workshops were delivered by OU Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) lecturers and staff tutors.

The event was very well-received. It had been open to all Arts and Social Sciences students in Scotland. The participants - who spanned a wide range of modules - were provided with careers related materials to take away.

The Open University has a dedicated Careers and Employability Services team and offers a range of courses and qualifications in Arts & Social Sciences.
