Faculty of Social Sciences
The Open University offers face-to-face supervision of MPhil and PhD research students based at our Walton Hall campus, on a full- or part-time basis. On occasions, part-time students may receive additional support from an external supervisor, but will also be expected to travel regularly to meet with their central supervisors in Milton Keynes. Applications for October registration are usually accepted between November and March. Full time studentships are sometimes available, and are generally advertised in the Spring.
Before admission onto the Research Degree Programme, students should normally have an undergraduate degree in the social sciences (2:1 or better) and have a postgraduate diploma or degree in social research methods.
Visit the postgraduate research degree website for further details of the full research degrees programme.
