Please note: As this ceremony is in the Hub Lecture Theatre on the OU Campus, places are strictly limited to a maximum of 80 graduates and 160 guests. 

Arrival and registration

Upon arrival, please head to the Registration desks in the Hub Bay to collect your tickets, presentation card and souvenir programmes.  You will also be given an information sheet including a map of the venue to help you find your way around.  This information sheet will be available to download here a few weeks before the ceremony.

If you have any questions during the day, the staff at the Registration and Enquiries desks will be pleased to help you

Academic Dress

If you have chosen to wear academic dress for your ceremony, you can collect this from the Origins Restaurant after you have registered.  Collection will be open from 08:30 and all hired items should be returned to the gown drop-off point in the Jennie Lee Nexus by 13:30.

Photography

The photography studios are located in the Medlar Room and will be open from 08:30. Please be advised that there may be queues, so allow yourself plenty of time.

A photograph will be taken of you when you cross the stage. This award photograph will be available to purchase after the ceremony in the Jennie Lee Nexus and online at www.edeandravenscroft.com.

The ceremony

The doors to the auditorium will open at 09:45 and the musical programme will begin shortly after. You and your guests should be seated at least 15 minutes before the ceremony begins.  Your ceremony is expected to last about 45-60 minutes

Post ceremony drinks

After the ceremony, you and your guests are invited to enjoy a celebratory glass of sparkling wine or fruit juice in the Jennie Lee Nexus.

The Ceremonies Centre will be closed on the day of the ceremony, so to reach us please telephone +44 (0) 7785 388901.

Accessibility

All ceremony activities will take place on the ground floor, and there is paved, level access between The Hub and the Jennie Lee buildings.  If you or your guests have special seating requirements, or you have any queries about accessibility, please telephone the Ceremonies Centre on +44 (0) 1908 541079 at least 3 weeks before the ceremony date.

Refreshments

The Origins Restaurant will be open from 12:30 onwards for the sale of tea, coffee, pastries, snack bars, pre-packaged sandwiches and salads, etc

Cloakroom

Coat rails will be available near the Registration desks, along with a small area where pushchairs/buggies may be left during the ceremony.  Please note that this area is unsecured and unstaffed, so you should not leave any valuables here; items are stored at the owners’ risk.

Parking

There is ample parking available on-campus. For disabled graduates and guests there will be a drop-off zone near the buildings where the ceremony activities are taking place. 

First Aid

If first aid assistance is required while you are at the venue, please report to a member of The Open University staff.

Security & emergencies

Please note that it is at The Open University’s discretion to enforce any security measures, such as bag searches.

Should the need to evacuate arise, an announcement will be made and OU Security staff will give further instruction
