New College Durham offers a wide range of full time vocational, A-level, apprenticeships and university level programmes; and we are delighted that New College Durham has been graded as outstanding by Ofsted.

With more than 90 years’ experience, we’re rated in the top 10% of colleges in the UK for achievement in Further Education and apprenticeships; whilst our Higher Education students rate it in the top 10% for student satisfaction and we have achieved silver standard in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

We understand how important it is for our students to graduate from New College Durham with the skills and experience essential for a successful career; and we have well established links with employers across many industries and business sectors that help structure our courses. Our students gain hands on experience in real-life working environments and top-class facilities.

New College Durham offers an excellent portfolio of more than 50 university-level programmes, including foundation degrees, honours degrees, higher apprenticeships and professional qualifications in a range of subjects. All of its qualifications are validated by official awarding bodies and face the same rigorous checks and audits as all universities. Many programmes are available on a full or part-time basis, with flexible options to fit around work or family commitments.

The college has all of the resources needed to support learning at all levels, including a well-stocked academic library and an e-Learning Centre with more than 250 computers. These sit alongside experience-enhancing amenities, such as a students’ union, gym, Costa, Starbucks and free on-site parking. To give students the best chance of achieving their potential, the college has an impressive network of student support services. Academic support tutors are available to help improve research, writing and presentation skills. Its effective employer engagement programme ensures that graduates leave with a range of employability skills, so it’s no surprise that 94% of New College graduates progress to employment or further study.

We bridge the gap between further and higher education. Our supportive community culture alongside our breadth and depth of programmes means we have something for everyone. We are proud that our student achievements and retention rates are among the best in the country.
