Fees and Charges

From the 2021/22 Academic Year, it was decided to no longer send out the fees and charges schedule.  Should a quotation be required for a new programme validation, or if there are any queries on the information below, please contact ouvp-finance@open.ac.uk.

The information below is standard for all partners.

Process Panel Member (PPM) Expenses

Any expenses incurred by the PPM at an interim event, held by the institution, are payable by the institution directly.

New Programme Validation Events

All costs for the event will be charged back.

All additional costs (fees, travel costs, etc.) relating to External Examiners for any new programmes will be charged back separately until the External Examiner can be included in the yearly charge calculation.  This may also apply if additional External Examiners are required for an existing programme. External Examiners are paid a daily rate in line with the OU Day Contract Rate.

Cancellation

When scheduled activity has to be cancelled at the Institution’s request, the Institution will be subject to a cancellation charge. The charge is calculated from the date the cancellation request is received based on the number of working days before the date of visit, as illustrated in the table below.

75% of administration charge, plus non-refundable costs and cancellation charges incurred in all pre-booked flights, trains, and hotel accommodation.

 20 -40

50% of administration charge plus non-refundable costs and cancellation charges incurred in all pre-booked flights, trains, and hotel accommodation.

41 or more

No charge

 

Student Registration

Each individual student entering a taught programme leading to an Open University validated award must be registered with the University at the point of entry, whether the entry is to the first year of the programme or directly onto the second year or a later year.

Your institutional agreement will confirm the number of student registrations allowed free of charge under our agreement in an academic year; any students above that number will be charged back to the institution at a rate of £75 per registration. This covers the cost of registration, conferment, archiving, and future retrieval.

Charges for modular registrations will be determined on a case-by-case basis following discussions with OUVP.

Replacement/Duplicate Certificate

Replacement/duplicate certificates issued by OUVP will be charged at £60 (incl. VAT) per certificate.

Charges for Exiting Institutions

In the event of a decision by either party to exit from our agreement, specific costs for exit/teach-out of programmes can be obtained from OUVP.
