An event organised by The Open Political Economy Group, IKD, The Open University and the History and Methodology of Economic Thought Research Group, Goldsmiths.

This event celebrates the many and diverse contributions that Victoria Chick (1936-2023) and Geoffrey Colin Harcourt (1931-2021) brought to the economics community over their lives. They were both central pillars of the Keynesian and later Post-Keynesian school of thought from its very beginning, and their contributions defined the scope and outlook that this approach to economics came to represent. This two-day event intends to honor their work and many years of service to the community. The first day will be devoted to three sessions that focus on themes they have made major contributions to. These themes relate to: A) Victoria Chick’s work on money, finance, post-Keynesian macroeconomics, methodology and pluralism in economics. B) Geoff Harcourt’s work on capital, growth, the capital controversies, macroeconomic theory and history of economic thought. The three sessions on the first day (12th of May) will have contributions in these themes shaped in the following sessions: Money, Banking and Finance (13:30-14:30); Capital, Growth and Macroeconomic Behavior (15:00-16:00); History, Methodology and Pluralism (16:30-17:30). In the second day of the workshop (13th of May), two panels of celebrated academics will reflect on the work of Victoria and Geoff. The first will be online (9:30-11:30) with contributors from across the globe, and the other will be in person (12:00-14:00) in Goldsmiths and broadcast live.

Organised by Andrew Trigg and Constantinos Repapis. (All times GMT, detailed programme to follow.). Please visit Goldsmiths website for further detail.
