New Library Research Support Training Sessions

How the Library can support your research 

An overview of the research support services offered by the Library, including open access publishing, Open Research Online, research data management, Open Research Data Online, and training. It will also briefly cover other services offered by the Library, including access to online resources and document delivery, and will signpost where to go for help and support. 

Data day-to-day: hints and tips for good research data management 

This webinar looks at strategies for managing your research data to ensure it remains usable throughout your research project and beyond. The session will help you to understand why good research data management is important, develop strategies for organising, naming, and storing your files, and understand how good research data management can improve research collaboration. 

FAIR's fair: how to share your research data 

Increasingly funders, publishers and institutions are expecting researchers to make their research data publicly available. This bitesize webinar will explain the benefits of data sharing, help you understand the FAIR data principles, show you how to maximise the re-use potential and visibility of your research data, and discover what a data availability statement is, and how to write one. 

Preparing research data for archiving 

This webinar looks at good practice for preparing data for deposit in a research data repository or archive in order to improve its quality. The session will help you to understand why digital preservation is important, know how to appraise and select research data for preservation, identify good file formats for preservation, and learn why metadata is an essential part of the archiving process.  

Using ORDO to archive and share research data 

This bitesize webinar looks at ORDO (Open Research Data Online), the OU's repository for research data. You’ll learn what ORDO is and how to use it and make a start on uploading a dataset to it.
