Reflow issues at 200% zoom
When users zoom in to 200%, a horizontal scroll bar appears, and the main menu button is obscured (this is particularly evident in Edge). This is in breach of WCAG 2.2 criterion 1.4.10 (level AA) and will be resolved in November 2024.
Open University Library Services provides access to over 580,000 ebook titles, 500 databases and 250,000 journal titles which are licensed by the Library but provided by third-party publishers. These are spread over more than 400 external websites and we can’t test all those sites and create accessibility statements for them.
Having undertaken an assessment, we have prepared a document outlining that we cannot reasonably assure the accessibility of all of these resources. This is because of the volumes of third-party resources that we have available and the very limited impact that we have to make changes and publish accessibility statements on websites outside of our control. The document we have prepared is in line with the regulations for accessibility requirements for Public Sector bodies.
We audit many third-party resources and undertake supporting work to make improvements for our users. We also provide students with alternative methods of accessing content that is not available in the appropriate formats from our digital platforms. Not all pre-recorded audio and video published before 23 September 2020 has captions and transcripts because these files are exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
Any new pre-recorded video or audio we publish will meet accessibility standards.
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

The OU is very experienced in meeting accessibility needs for our students. In many cases we are able to provide module and other study support materials in alternative formats for students who indicate a need for this when completing a Disability Support Form.
In addition, some module materials are available in different formats and can be downloaded from module websites. Students can contact their Student Support Team for advice.
