Leading the way in Belfast

The Open University’s Business Development Unit were proud to sponsor the Institute of Directors (IoD), Women in Leadership 2020 conference in Belfast on the 6 March, alongside headline sponsor Herbert Smith Freehills, an international professional services business, and a number of other associate sponsors including Barclays, KPMG and Translink.

The conference welcomed over 500 delegates to the Crowne Plaza Hotel where the theme was “leading the way” with The Open University showcasing to senior business leaders what we can do to develop leaders of the future. Our educational advisers were on hand at the exhibition stand to provide advice and guidance on a wide range of programmes with delegates, highlighting our flexible learning model allowing commitment to continual learning, responding to preferred learning styles and pace.

The conference included a range of keynote speakers who are true leaders in their field including award-winning astrophysicist, Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell.

The IoD and The Open University share many similar values including helping leaders to develop their practical, project leadership and policy related skills, to successfully help navigate workplace challenges and to further develop ability to influence and communicate with impact.  It is hoped that this relationship will grow from strength to strength in the future as the two organisations seek to work together.
