Profile summary

Professional biography

I am a full-time member of the Open University. My main role is a staff tutor in the school of computing and communications in the STEM faculty.

My personal interests include windsurfing, surfing and paddle-boarding around Cornwall, when the weather permits.  

Research interests

I studied for an MSc in advanced Networking with the OU in 2012 and completed a dissertation investigating Denial of Service (DoS) issues faced by UK SMEs. My personal and current Doctorial research is focused on low volume, slow DoS attacks on MANET- IoT systems (MANET-Internet of Things) and how intrusion detection in these resource constrained systems can be improved.

Teaching interests

I am also the module chair for T829 – Enterprise Networking which is aligned to the PG cert in advanced Networking. My teaching commitments with the OU are with TM257 and TM357 including networking, Cybersecurity and IoT (Internet of Things).

External collaborations

I am currently an academic reviewer for South West College (NI) for the BSc (top up) computing degree and the FdSc in Cyber security.
