I graduated from the Université SLHS de Franche-Comté (Besançon, France) in 2001. Since then, I obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP), two Diplomas in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI Law and Health options), and an MA and a PhD in Interpreting and Translation from the University of Salford.
Before coming to the Open University, I lectured in French and Translation and Interpreting at the University of Salford for thirteen years. During this time, I lectured on many modules such as French written language, French grammar, Translation Studies and Conference Interpreting.
Also, after completing my MA, I worked as a freelance translator and interpreter and I specialised in the legal field. I worked for various translation/interpreting agencies worldwide and I interpreted during various European/international conferences, notably within the frameworks of European Works Councils, Cross-European Educational Projects,and for ministerial delegations from the French Ministry of Justice.
My research interests lie in the field of public service interpreting, focusing more specifically on the use of technologies, and the impact they have on human-human and human-technology interaction. I am also interested in sociological frameworks, such as Actor-Network Theory and Human-Computer Interaction, and the role they can play in Interpreting Studies research.
In my doctoral thesis, I examined the impact that videoconferencing systems have on the interpreters' perceptions of their role(s). Since then, I have published several papers on the role and impact of technologies in court interpreting, interpreting training, and I presented in many conferences across the world. I have also been invited to deliver talks on various aspects of Public Service Interpreting (notably Court and Medical Interpreting) and in various HE Institutions in the UK and abroad.
I have been teaching French and Translation and Interpreting Studies in various HE Institutions since 2009. In terms of Translation studies, I have delivered many theoretical lectures and practical seminars at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Levels. I am currently supervising (both as a co- and main supervisor) PhD students in the field of Translation and Technologies.
I have delivered talks and training sessions to various professional Translating and Interpreting bodies (such as The Institute of Translation and Interpreting, and the North-West Translator Network).
I am currently sitting on the Executive Committee of the Association of Programmes in Translation and Interpreting Studies (APTIS), and I am also a member of the International Association of Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS).
I have worked as a peer reviewer for several world-renowned journals (such as The Journal of Specialised Translation) and publishers (such as Routledge) in Translation and Interpreting Studies.
