Professional biography

I graduated in Psychology at University Jaume I (Castellón, Spain), where I also got my MSc in Clinical Psychology, Health and Neuropsychology and completed my PhD in behavioural neuroscience. My research has been mainly focused on the study of apathy, anergia or lack of motivation which is present in several psychopathologies including Major Depression and Schizophrenia. I have been also involved in drug addiction studies focused on understanding how the combination of drugs (such as alcohol and caffeine) interact in the brain and affect behaviour. During my postdoc at University of Cambridge, I expanded my interests to the study of affective-related symptoms. I am interested in understanding how the way we interpret ambiguous or uncertain situations can be biased by our mood (a process called Cognitive Affective Bias). Currently, as a Lecturer at The Open University, I am starting my own line of research about this topic using a translational approach.
