A Just and Warm Transition to Net Zero for Scotland?

Dates
Tuesday, May 25, 2021 - 19:30 to 20:30
Stephen Peake

Stephen Peake, OU Professor of Climate Change and Energy, will present this free webinar as part of the 'Change in a Time of Chaos' event series from St Columba's By The Castle.

Great progress has been made in Scotland with 97% of electricity now supplied from renewable sources. There still remain significant challenges ahead, particularly with decarbonising heat which will need to tackle issues such as the energy efficiency of existing housing stock.

The transition to low/zero carbon heating systems will also require much greater use of electricity with heat pump technologies, or conversion of boilers and appliances to hydrogen.

In this webinar, Prof Stephen Peake will focus on the challenge of decarbonising heating in Scotland and the relationship with fuel poverty issues.

Stephen Peake is a Fellow of the University of Cambridge's Judge Business School and Senior Associate of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Previously he has served as international civil servant at the International Energy Agency and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
