An information webinar for primary teachers in Scotland keen to learn a new language and how to teach it in their classrooms.

The 60-minute online event will introduce interested primary teachers in Scotland to the primary languages programme Teachers Learning to Teach Languages (TELT)

The TELT programme is delivered in collaboration by The Open University and Scotland's National Centre for Languages, SCILT. The next round of the programme will run from October 2022 to June 2023.

Through TELT teachers can study one of four languages from scratch, learn how to teach it and apply their new skills directly as part of the course.

In this webinar, participants will learn what the programme has to offer, plus what is required to succeed in becoming a primary languages teacher and gain professional recognition from the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) for the study.

Participants will hear about the impact of the study on attitudes and practice of teachers, pupils and the entire school community from OU and SCILT colleagues. They'll find out how the course enables teachers to collaborate with primary schools across Scotland and Wales through in-programme eTwinning.

They will also hear first-hand about experiences studying the course from former students, in-service primary teachers, who are now working as guest tutors on the programme. The guest tutors will also share how studying this programme has boosted their professional opportunities and employability skills.

Book your free place on this webinar via the Information webinar Eventbrite page.

This webinar is also running on Tuesday 21 June 2022.
