Description
William Withy Gull was an English physician who contributed to the understanding and treatment of several medical conditions including Bright's disease, myxoedema, paraplegia and anorexia nervosa. The term anorexia nervosa was first introduced by Gull. In 1871 he successfully treated the Prince of Wales during a typhoid attack and afterwards was made a Baronet by Queen Victoria. He was also appointed Physician-in-Ordinary to the Queen.
