Description
John Westland Marston was an English playwright, dramatic poet and literary critic who also occasionally acted on the stage. In 1837 he became co-editor of the 'National Magazine' but returned to writing for the theatre shortly afterwards. One of his most popular plays was 'Strathmore' written in 1849. He also wrote literary reviews for the 'Athenaeum'. He was popular among literary circles and was a good friend of the actor Henry Irving.
