Footage description: Opening sequence shows an OU tutorial in session at two different locations connected by remote writing equipment through the telephone system. Intermittent commentary by Chris Pinches explains what is happening. Chris Pinches uses a systems diagram to point out the system components and to explain broadly, how the audio component of the system works. Pinches goes on to examine the graphics equipment of the remote writing system. He uses diagrams and the apparatus to illustrate his points. Pinches explains in detail how the system works from the transmission end. Pinches displays the vertical and horizontal circuit signals of the system transmitter on an oscilloscope. He then adds the two signals together and puts out their audio tone. Pinches next examines the graphics equipment for the remote writing system at the receiver end. He uses diagrams and the apparatus to illustrate his points. More shots of the tutorials in session. Commentary, at intervals, by Chris Pinches. Pinches discusses some of the drawbacks of remote writing tutorials with a tutor and students who took part.
