We are now installed in the new Ar/Ar Dating and Noble Gas Analysis Laboratory and Preparation suite, following the SRIF3 refurbishment of the Wolfson Building.
Our analytical capabilities are centred around three individual instruments: two MAP 215-50 noble gas mass spectrometers and the Nu Instruments Noblesse.
We use one static combined UV and IR laser system on one MAP instrument (MAP1), as well as two mobile laser units which are interchangable between the MAP2 and Noblesse mass spectrometers.
The laboratory suite houses a fully equipped preparation laboratory. The level of preparation required will vary from sample to sample, ranging from initial mineral separation to the final removal of contaminants.
